Full Details for 7 Bedroom Detached for sale in Buckhurst Hill, IG9 :
The property is initially approached via a long shared private driveway, protected by impressive automated wrought iron gates. Upon reaching the property an entry phone controlled electric gate opens on to its own driveway that leads down to an extensive parking area, the house and annexe. The owners tell us that the property was built in 2005 and is predominately of a French Green Oak construction above a brick plinth with a combination of rendered panels and brick and flint elevations under a hip tiled roof. The carved oak portico protects a double front door, which opens into the entrance lobby, a set of semi glazed double doors open into the dining hall, creating a most impressive welcome to the home, featuring a large Inglenook fireplace, stone flooring, vaulted ceiling and a galleried landing over, which is approached by a carved oak staircase. The interior of the home is full of character, with exposed timbers in many of the principal rooms illustrating the quality of the joinery everywhere and many of the rooms have vaulted ceilings. The ground and first floors have underfloor heating with dual temperature controls. The house is also fitted with a Living Control centrally managed sound system, which can be upgraded to incorporate a light system. The grounds are equally as pleasing as the home itself; the entire property is fenced and there is a range of mature and semi mature deciduous and evergreen trees bordering the grounds. The grounds are predominately laid to grass and provide the house with a sense of space and privacy, enhanced by backing onto Epping Forest. The entrance to the house is adorned with wisteria and flower beds around the house are planted with roses and shaped shrubs enclosed by box hedging. Most of the principal reception rooms have french doors opening onto a large flagstone terrace, providing a place to sit and relax or entertain guests during the summer months. The terrace outside the kitchen overlooks a formal garden area comprising a parterre with box hedging and gravel walks, lavender, rose gardens and a rock garden. To one side of the home is a brick and timber framed greenhouse surrounded by a vegetable garden.A viewing of this unique home is truly recommended in order to fully appreciate the grounds and the character accommodation.
The setting and extent of the grounds had an immediate impact on us as we arrived to view what was a bungalow in need of improvement, sitting within approximately 5.5 acres. Our initial intentions where to add a first floor to the bungalow, following several site meetings with our architect he recommended we demolish the bungalow and start again, we took his advice and obtained planning permission for a new build. Following months of research we appointed Oakwrights Country Buildings, who specialise in the design and build of traditional oak framed buildings and bespoke constructions. Our home was completed about 10 years ago and we have been delighted with the outcome.Living here is uncomplicated and so very easy, it is also the perfect party house and really comes into it’s own when we are entertaining friends and family. The kitchen and breakfast areas are the heart and hub of the home, where life goes on and everyone naturally seems to gravitate to. With the addition of the orangery extension there is a great flow between the three areas allowing us to be all together when the family visit within a casual atmosphere. What we love about living here is the sense of privacy that we have, as we are tucked away at the end of the long drive and, as previously mentioned there are acres of grounds that we can wander around and we also have direct access into Epping Forest land.
