Full Details for 5 Bedroom Terraced for sale in Dover, CT16 :

The Kearsney Court estate was historically owned by Edward Barlow, the chairman of Wiggins Teape in Dover – one of the leading paper mills producing high-quality paper. He commissioned the renowned Edwardian landscape designer Thomas Mawson to design the spectacular gardens and, while much of the grounds are now part of Russell Gardens, 10 acres of woodland and beautiful terraced gardens remain as communal grounds for the impressive Kearsney Court house. This has been converted to seven delightful and very individual freehold properties.

Wandering up the long drive through lodge gates, you arrive at Kearsney Court and are transported into a different world. Once across the threshold you are imbued with the elegance and beautiful proportions of the reception hall. The high ceilings and arched recess in the lounge/dining room provide an immediate feeling of space and light while the view from the terrace across to the parkland is impressive. Here you can sit and relax on a sunny day, revelling in your surroundings. From the well-fitted kitchen you can go downstairs to an excellent party room or playroom where the children can watch TV and play games. Alternatively, it would make a very useful office for anyone who works from home because it has direct external access, so any business visitors do not need to go through the rest of the house.

The views of the landscaped gardens are even more impressive when you look down from the large bedrooms on the first and second floors – particularly from the charming master suite on the top floor. There is also a courtyard at the front of the house where you can sit in the sunshine and each property also has a separate garden area for more domestic requirements or growing fruit and vegetables.

What the Owner says:

We have lived at Kearsney Court for 29 years and brought up our family here who will all be sad to see us move. However, as they have all flown the nest we feel it is time for a change. We have always felt a sense of history living here – the house was built in 1900 – and have enjoyed maintaining and enhancing the property over the years. The tranquil surroundings are very special and the children all thoroughly enjoyed playing in the woods when they were growing up. It is a haven for wildlife including badgers, rabbits, squirrels and pheasants and we even have a pair of ducks that come back to the pond every year.
We have friendly and supportive neighbours and there are delightful walks through the grounds and parks – even a trip through the gardens to the local shop in nearby River is quite special. A gardener tends the communal areas so we can enjoy the large grounds but we do not have to look after them ourselves. There are also excellent transport links from Kearsney station for Canterbury and Victoria and there are regular bus services from the bottom of the drive to Canterbury, Folkestone and Dover, while from Dover Priory we can be in London in about an hour on the high-speed train or in France from Dover Docks in 90 minutes.
