Full Details for 5 Bedroom Detached for sale in Dover, CT15 :

If you are considering living the rural idyll, this Farmhouse could realise all your dreams. Surrounded by the rolling hills of the Alkham Valley countryside, this Grade II listed archetypal Georgian family home is a real gem. Originally built around 1710 you can indeed roll back the centuries just by looking at its impressive and well balanced exterior including the central hall, front door and plethora of evenly matched multi paned sash windows, beamed ceilings, old fireplaces and historical window shutters and doors. The nicely proportioned lounge includes wood flooring and a brick surround fireplace with a cosy log burner that can keep the whole house warm, while all your friends and family have a meal in the warm and welcoming dining room.

Even the kitchen/breakfast room is full of character. While it provides everything an enthusiastic cook might require, the kitchen table is very old and is actually on the deeds so it literally ‘comes with the house.’ Adjacent is the very large utility room. It leads to the oldest part of the house that is currently set up as a gym / study. There is a large cellar that makes a very useful place to store your wine or other items.

The first floor includes the first bedroom with a superb cast iron fireplace surrounded by fabulous original Delft tiles. There are two other double bedrooms and a single as well as a family bathroom that has twin period basins, a shower and a magnificent free standing bath with a roll top and claw feet. The second floor is a real teenager’s ‘den’ or could be used for an au pair or another staff member. It consists of a bedroom and a family area with stunning views, leading to a substantial storage area that could be converted into a study or even a little kitchenette and on through to a bathroom.

Outside the well fenced and easy to maintain garden with its lawn, trees and log store has a very large terrace running along the back of the house. Here you can entertain a dozen or more people to a barbecue however there is also a second patio area allowing you to follow the sun all day and chat to passers by. At the front of the property the driveway provides plenty of space for off road parking.

What the Owner says:

We used to live in London but about 15 years ago we decided to that a change of pace would be a great idea and we saw this place and fell in love with it. We have never regretted making the move to the countryside and this lovely house in particular. We never tire of waking up in the morning and looking at the views. It has been a wonderful home where we have thoroughly enjoyed having friends, family and colleagues to stay on a regular basis over the years. However, we feel it is now time to start a new chapter in our lives and we hope the next family to live here will love it as much as we have.
The village and the neighbours are very friendly and there are regular activities in the village hall including a film club and the annual fete. There is also a village cricket club and excellent places for walking the dog. If you are interested in riding there is a very good local stables and the nearby farm sells top quality meat from home reared animals, while the Alkham garden centre provides everything you want to keep your garden in tip top condition.
The excellent Marquis restaurant is in walking distance and Tesco and Sainsbury’s are about five minutes away by car, as is a Bannatyne’s Health Club. We are close to the Channel Tunnel and not far from Dover docks for trips to the Continent, while Canterbury offers excellent pubs and restaurants as well as tourist attractions and shopping facilities. For golfing enthusiasts there are a number of golf courses within easy reach.
