An inspiring property enjoying an elevated and sheltered south-facing position, The Vron basks in stunning views across the farmland of Summergil valley and surrounding hills. A country house that benefits from recent renovation including felting beneath the original roof tiles, re-wiring and the installation of oil-fired, combi-boiler central heating. Whilst retaining delightful period features; inglenook fireplace, stone flag flooring and many exposed wall and roof timbers.

The traditional high eaves barns of stone and timber construction create a sheltered courtyard, offering a myriad of possibilities. Crying out for renovation these listed buildings could be transformed into holiday lets, Bushcraft or Outdoor Activity Centre, Equestrian endeavour or into an array of permanent residences; subject to the relevant planning permissions.

A bridle path leads through the woodland at the rear, up to a vast tract of registered common land, ideal for walking, riding and mountain biking.  The Vron is well-located with direct access down a private drive to the A44, lying only 1mile from the numerous amenities of New Radnor village, 8miles to the market town of Kington or 25 miles to the city of Hereford. Well situated to benefit from local tourist draws such as the dramatic dams of the Elan Valley or the famed ancient walking trail of Offa’s Dyke and the many castle sites of the historic Welsh Marches, this once-troubled borderland.

The Property

Stepping through the stone porch protecting the original door lies the Entry Hall, with initial stone flags giving way to original Elm floorboards, while a door under the staircase leads down into the Cellar.

The Sitting Room features exposed timer beams, Woodburner set on stone hearth with to one side floor-to-ceiling cupboards and to the other ample storage in the form of a walk-in closet. This light and airy room has a large window with lovely views.

Across the hall lies the Dining Room, enjoying dual aspect views and original stone flag flooring made cosy by a Woodburner set into the stone inglenook fireplace. A walk-in cupboard houses the Worcester Greenstar boiler. The retention of the exposed timbers of the wall now open-framed cleverly partitions this room from the Kitchen, lending it a modern open-flow feeling.

The modern Kitchen with both recessed and spot task lighting, is fully-fitted in light oak units with integrated oven, halogen hob and hood. Under the large window with glorious views is a stainless steel sink and a half with space below the laminate countertop for both dishwasher and fridge.

Adjoining the Kitchen is a large open Larder with ample space for a US style fridge/freezer and food storage while retaining the original cold slab, milk separator and 3 metal ceiling stirrups.

The large Utility/Mud Room has units to match the Kitchen, sink and counter with space below for a washer and dryer. On the opposite wall hang 4 saddle trees with ample space below for a home office zone. Off this spacious room lie both a Separate WC and a Shower Room.

Upstairs the Master Bedroom enjoys splendid views to the front, with timber beams and a section of exposed wattle partitioning the Ensuite, featuring a freestanding bath, WC and basin.

Each of the 3 double bedrooms enjoy delightful valley views and have their own particular interesting features; cast fireplace, walk-in closet, timber beams even an External door to stone steps with woodland views.

The Family Bathroom with Dressing area has full bath, separate shower cubicle, WC, basin and retains its fireplace. Outside a spacious walk-in Airing Cupboard allows access to the new pipework.

Outside

The Shippen or Cow Barn has high eaves, internal timber frame, twin new wooden double doors, lean-to rear extension and a slit window stone gable end making it ripe for holiday let accommodation. While the Long Barn, 25m and double storey, sits opposite a Stable Block of loose boxes with hay loft above, bridged to the house by the traditional Chicken Coop. The Granary Barn has stone steps on the courtyard gable leading to the upper level and would make lovely further accommodation or artisan workshops or studios. Finally the modern open-bay barn offers useful covered storage with convenient forecourt parking.
