Full Details for 8 Bedroom Detached for sale in Freshwater, PO40 :

A strikingly attractive and magnificent eight bedroom detached Victorian residence with a wonderful history that simply oozes charm and character throughout. Set in a peaceful location and with uninterrupted views across Tennyson Downs and Freshwater Bay the house has a wealth of period features throughout that balance beautifully with the contemporary interior design. A superb family home offering flexible accommodation with an option to create a private two bedroom

annexe if required.

Dating from the late 1800’s this fine house rests on generous grounds that are only a short walk from the sea and beach which are an extension of the essence of the house in that they are beautiful and awe inspiring. You know you have come to see something special from

the moment you walk into the porch, the more observant will notice the tiled floor with Latin inscription “Welcome As You Arrive, Enjoy Yourself While You Are Here, Farewell As You Go”. The impressive

hall with grand staircase, high ceilings and stained glass windows create such a happy atmosphere and give you a real sense of the elegance and grandeur that is prevalent throughout the house.

Five very well proportioned reception rooms, lounge, drawing room, formal dining room, breakfast room and conservatory are all immaculately presented, very light and offer excellent space for entertaining family and friends whatever the occasion. Ornate coving, period fire places, high ceilings, ceiling roses and large windows all combine to enhance the space, charm and character of the house. The well proportioned kitchen contains all the essentials required for modern living and even has an adjoining walk in larder that any aspiring chef would be happy with. A secure private office, separate W.C. and bathroom complete the ground floor.

The first floor is vast and can be accessed using the grand staircase or the servants staircase (as it would have been back in the late 1800’s) and it is therefore easy to section part of the house off to create a separate self contained annexe for an elderly relative or teenager should you require it. Five genuine double rooms, a shower room and family bathroom offer a flexible way of living and there is scope to modernise and adjust if desired. All the rooms enjoy high ceilings, period features and wonderful views of the back and front gardens all adding to the luxurious space and finish.

What the Owner says:

We have enjoyed twenty five wonderful and very happy years here since moving from the mainland. Our requirements were very specific when we decided to relocate as we ideally wanted a spacious period family home with lots of character, a safe and secure garden, the possibility for a self contained annexe for an
elderly relative and to be within walking distance to a school, the coast and shops. A tall order indeed and consequently we spent a considerable amount of time searching for and viewing many properties but the moment we walked into this home, we knew it was the one and that we had found an extraordinary special
property.

Originally a gentlemen’s residence, we have spent a considerable amount of time and money returning it to a family home and love the fact that as soon as you step through the front door the charm and character of the house become immediately apparent. It’s such a happy house and we enjoy all the rooms but our favourites have to be the lounge and formal dining rooms. The lounge is a great place to relax and unwind, light streams in through the generous windows and gives the room a wonderful look and feel – an ideal spot to watch the abundant wildlife in the area including pheasants, squirrels and the odd cuckoo. The formal dining room is perfect for entertaining. During the summer months we open the doors to the conservatory and expand out into the garden and in the winter we can comfortably sit family and friends around the table.
