Full Details for 5 Bedroom Farm House for sale in Llandeilo, SA19 :

In our opinion a very rare opportunity to acquire a most impressive and imposing Mansion house, having many of its original features, and being sold along with 18 acres of land, and located in a secluded position on the outskirts of the market Town of Llandeilo in the Towy Valley. The property also provides to the front stunning uninterrupted views over its fields as well as countryside beyond. Internal viewing is highly recommended to appreciate the grandeur that this property has to offer, as well as offering further potential for enhancement. There is also a stone cottage to the rear, which would in our opinion have potential for conversion as possible granny annexe, holiday cottage etc. (subject to any planning regulations required), Stable block, three loose boxes and feed/tack room.

History

The Cefncethin estate has a long and diverse history believed to date back over 500 years or more, with different parts of the estate entrusted to various individuals and trusts over the years. The house itself is referred to in Historical Carmarthenshire Homes and their Families, written by the late Major Francis Jones of Pembrokeshire, but information relating to the Cefncethin Estate is limited to recent years .The only known documents relating to part of the original estate, were passed on to the present owner when the property was purchased some years ago. There were few prominent owners and trustees to the estate, with reference being made in 1802 to the then owner, R S Conway, better known as Lord Robert Seymour, the honourable Lady Margaret Leicester, and latterly to Walter Fitz Uryan the 7th Lord Dynevor. The family of Lord Seymour can be traced back to Edward Seymour, the first Earl of Hertford, who married Lady Catherine Grey, daughter of Henry Grey, Duke of Suffolk. Henry Grey and his wife Francis Brandon had another daughter named Jane, perhaps better known as Lady Jane Grey who, on the 9th February 1554 became the wife of Henry V111 and Queen of England, who, on 12th February of the same year was beheaded on Tower Green in the Tower of London.Over the years, the Cefncethin estate became subject to many indentures of lease, but more recently, on 31st December 1946, the property was conveyed by the then vendor Walter Fitz Uryan [7th] Baron Dynevor, and the estate trustees, Arthur Berwick Lloyd Baker of Hardwicke Hall, Gloucester, and Henry Bucknall, Baron Rushcliffe, who sold to a William Craven Llewellyn in 1960.

The property stands in approx 18 acres which includes extensive gardens, pony paddock with former cottage and loose boxes. Lovely setting enjoying privacy, seclusion, and peaceful surroundings.
