We fell in love with Braemuir while driving past many years ago and bought the house some years later when it eventually came on the market. Although the house is enormous it has always had a warm and welcoming feel and our favourite room is the first-floor lounge that we call the ‘fairy-tale room’ it is full of charm with its turret window, stained glass and beautiful sea views.
The location for us has been perfect. The delightful George VI Memorial Park is only five minutes’ walk and we often go through there en route to Broadstairs. In the other direction, Madeira Walk takes us to Ramsgate town centre and the harbour area with its eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, individual craft shops and maritime paraphernalia. The quaint Granville Theatre is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the house, where you can see live shows and the latest films, and the sandy beach is literally a stone’s throw away – or just across the road and down the steps. We will be very sad to leave Braemuir after sixteen years but the family are grown up and it is time to downsize. We have thoroughly enjoyed restoring the house to its former glory over the past two years and hope the next family to move in will love it as much as we have.
