Full Details for 5 Bedroom Detached for sale in Hythe, CT21 :
This property is tucked away up a private drive. Indeed, it is so quiet and peaceful that the only noises you hear are the birds. Once inside this delightful 1930s family home, you can immediately appreciate the spaciousness and the wonderful view across the rooftops of Hythe to the sea and, on a clear day, you can even see France. The interior is a pleasant blend of period features such as dado rails, panelled doors and ceiling cornices coupled to modern innovations including the stunning open-plan living space. This incorporates a cleverly designed kitchen with a two-oven Aga plus gas/electric hob and oven for the summer, a large dining area and a gorgeous sitting room with a modern fireplace and lovely views across the charming and secluded garden and beyond. It leads out to the large terrace so you can also enjoy outdoor entertaining. For more formal occasions there is an elegant drawing room with a cast iron and tiled fireplace, while working from home is a real delight as you can sit at the beautifully fitted office/library next door. There is also a garage as well as a large utility room and boot room – ideal when you come back from a muddy walk with the dog.Off the galleried landing there is a family bathroom and four bedrooms including the large master with an en suite bathroom, fabulous views and a dressing room that could also be used as a nursery. However, the great surprise is the vast light vaulted ceiling studio/games room. It is large enough for a table tennis or pool table; alternatively it could become another en suite bedroom even a small self-contained annex.
This has been a delightful home over the past nine years and having the opportunity to modernise it has been very rewarding.
I spend much of my time in the open-plan living space I created as well as the office, where I really enjoy looking out of the window at the local wildlife. However, my family have moved away and I am looking to live nearer to them.
Hythe is a charming and friendly town and, whether you want to buy your groceries at Waitrose, venture into one of the very individual shops or just sit at the pavement cafés and watch the world go by, the town offers something for everyone. Even closer is Saltwood village, where there is an excellent primary school as well as a cricket club, pub and a popular restaurant.
It is only a short trip to the beach and the historic Military Canal, providing wonderful walks and cycle rides along the canal path as well as being the venue for the famous bi-annual Hythe Venetian Fete. The Imperial Hotel, with its golf course, swimming pool, spa and other sporting facilities, is nearby and, for the keen golfer there is also the Henry Cotton designed
Sene Valley Golf course. Another great family favourite is the world’s smallest public railway that trundles from Hythe through Romney Marsh to Dungeness.
