About the Area
Glastonbury has been a religious centre throughout history and back into the times of legends. The Celtic monastery evolved into one of England's wealthiest and most influential abbeys and the town grew up alongside it. Today it's a small but thriving town and a major tourist venue, welcoming thousands of visitors each year. Medieval Glastonbury - designated a conservation area - clusters around the evocative ruins of the Abbey.Just 5 miles from Glastonbury is Wells which is the smallest city in England (population 10,000). Its centre is the market place (local markets twice a week) surrounded by many medieval buildings including the Cathedral and moated Bishops Palace.

*
Immediately to the south (2 miles) of Glastonbury is the more recent town of Street and these centres provide a huge range of facilities and amenities. About 12 miles south east is Castle Cary station with a main rail line to London. There are excellent state and independent schools in the area including St. Dunstans, Crispin School, Wells Blue School, Strode College, Wells Cathedral School, Downside, All Hallows the Bruton schools and Millfield.

Accommodation
Torside stands on the lower slopes of Glastonbury Tor on the eastern side of the town. The house stands back from the road behind a stone wall with a gravelled drive leading in to the property. The entrance is protected within an impressive carved stone porch with the stonework mirrored in architraves, mullions and quoins. Internally the house is typical of its period with many original features retained including Victorian tiling, pitch pine timberwork, decorative cornices, picture rails, large bay windows, unique stained glass windows and open fireplaces. These all being complemented by more recent benefits including an Aga, 2 Jetmaster fires and gas fired central heating with radiators. The room proportions are again typically Victorian with high ceilings and large windows making the accommodation light and airy and allowing stunning south facing views across the neighbouring countryside.

**
The front door opens to a hall with double doors then leading to a large reception hall with a magnificent staircase. There are two fine south facing reception rooms - the drawing room and the dining room - both with handsome fireplaces with highly efficient Jetmaster fires. A door from the drawing room leads to the conservatory which again is a delightful room with stained glass windows, floor tiles and a vine on the beams which give wonderful shade in the hot summer months. There are also double doors out to the gardens. From the entrance hall a door leads into a large kitchen & breakfast room being 32 ft. in length and having a double aspect. There's plenty of space for a table and chairs and the kitchen area has an Aga and a good range of fitted units with worktops. Off the kitchen is a back hall with doors to the garage workshop and a store room. This room is also well suited as a sitting room, study or games room.

First Floor
On the first floor are 5 bedrooms, a family bathroom and an additional cloakroom. From the rear bedroom a door opens to a staircase to a large attic area which gas considerable scope for adaption for more use.

Outside
The landscaped grounds total towards 2 acres and include lawned gardens with beech, magolia and willow trees, numerous shrubs, flower and rose beds, a kitchen garden with soft fruit bushes, gentle woodland covered with primroses, bluebells and daffodils and a tennis court requiring some attention. Also within the grounds is a stone outbuilding with planning permission to convert into ancillary accommodation.

Directions
