Full Details for 5 Bedroom Detached for sale in Arundel, BN18 :

THE PROPERTY Church House is Grade II listed and dates back to the 1800's with later additions. Enjoying a prime position within the pretty village of Slindon, the approach to this handsome home is via Church Hill, a particularly sought after road within the village, leading to a gated entrance flanked by flint walls.

Church House is arranged over three floors with a good sized entrance hall with stairs leading to the first floor landing and to the cellar. The ground floor comprises of a formal sitting room with feature fireplace, a second reception room, large utility room, ground floor cloakroom and a magnificent open plan kitchen/dining space, dominated by a beautiful inglenook fireplace.

The first floor landing with its almost floor to ceiling Georgian window is very attractive and gives way to a generous master bedroom with en-suite shower room and dressing room, a guest bedroom and family bathroom. The remaining two double bedrooms are located on the second floor.

The walled gardens are extremely pretty, broken up by mature trees and herbaceous borders, offer a degree of privacy. There is a very large, South facing, Indian stone patio area overlooking the orchard. To the other side of the house there is a large expanse of lawn with mature flower beds and a cricket net positioned at one end. In addition there is driveway parking for several vehicles leading to the out buildings.

Out Buildings

Church House benefits from a plethora of outbuildings. These range from three substantial stables to an additional storeroom with washing facilities. Of particular note is the separate annexe with good size living and sleeping areas and en suite shower room and the unique detached former railway carriage which could be used as a play room or office.

THE LOCATION The village of Slindon is predominantly owned by the National Trust, which has preserved much of its character and charm. Lying between Chichester and Arundel within the newly created South Downs National Park, it is in close proximity to forestry commissioned woodland with many attractive country walks and bridle paths. There are two churches and a village shop which is collectively run by the village residents. The nearby villages of Barnham, Eastergate and Fontwell provide a good selection of local shops whilst Chichester and Arundel, and the provincial centres of Worthing and Brighton, are within an easy travelling distance by car providing comprehensive shopping facilities. There is also a good choice of rail links to London and Gatwick airport from either Barnham, Arundel or Amberley: all of which are less than 10 minutes' drive away.

Numerous sporting and recreational activities in the area include horse racing at Goodwood and Fontwell, Polo at Cowdray Park, several golf courses, a private country club at Goodwood with modern gym and indoor swimming pool and sailing at Littlehampton and Chichester Harbours. The surrounding contryside provides many opportunities for walking, riding or mountain biking.
