Full Details for 5 Bedroom Detached for sale in Canterbury, CT3 :

Surrounded by countryside as far as the eye can see, in the desirable village of Stodmarsh, this architect-designed house makes an ideal rural family home. Even though it was actually built in the late 1990s, the property incorporates some delightful period features such as multipane sash windows, timber floors and a reclaimed brick fireplace with a wood-burning stove in the charming living room. These features and the overall style of the property encourage you to feel it has been there for a century, yet it incorporates all the mod cons needed for modern day living. All the rooms on the ground floor flow through to each other from a spacious central hallway giving a wonderful light and airy feel. You and your family are likely to spend a great deal of time in the very welcoming country-style kitchen/breakfast room with its range cooker, bespoke units, adjacent utility room and space where at least eight people can sit comfortably around the kitchen table. The bright dining room is currently being used as a games room for all the family and this leads either to the attractive terrace, where you can sit over a cup of coffee on a sunny day, or through to the good-sized conservatory with views across the fields. All five double bedrooms provide a panoramic vista of the Kent countryside. One of the rooms is currently set up as an office so, if you do want to work from home, you can still enjoy looking at rolling fields to give you inspiration. There is also a family bathroom and the master bedroom includes a new en suite shower. Outside, there are three useful garden storage sheds as well as a driveway for off-road parking.

What the Owner says:

“We moved here in 2009 because we fell in love with this spacious house and the village – particularly the well-known old-world Red Lion pub! It is such a small and friendly village that we invited everyone to mulled wine and mince pies on our first Christmas Eve so we could get to know our neighbours. The flow of the house is ideal for both family life and for entertaining and we spend many days in the summer soaking up the sunshine in the garden or relaxing on the terrace, enjoying al fresco dining. We rarely use the dining room for eating as the kitchen/breakfast room is where everyone seems to congregate but it has made an ideal games room for the family. However, all the downstairs rooms offer plenty of flexible accommodation and can be adapted to whatever you want. It is very peaceful here and yet we are not far from Canterbury and Sturry with its range of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as a main-line station. Littlebourne is close by for daily necessities and you can walk to the charming villages of Ickham and Wickambreaux. There are also bridlepaths and stunning walks along the river Stour and through the Stodmarsh Nature Reserve with its unusual birds such as bearded reelings, bitterns, marsh harriers and many others.
