Waunfawr is a reasonably sized village and community on the outskirts of the Snowdonia National Park. Waunfawr railway station on the Welsh Highland railway between Caernarfon and Porthmadog adjoins the Snowdonia Park Brew pub and Inn at the southern end of the village. This inn has in recent times won awards for its beers and was voted best pub in the region in 2012. There is a well regarded primary school within the village and a very useful convenience store in neighbouring Caeathro approx 2 miles distance. The Waunfawr landscape is stunning with the surrounding mountains Mynydd Mawr and Moel Elio being very prominent, an ideal area for pony trekking, rambling, mountain climbing, cycling and canoeing. The historic castle town of Caernarfon is within a short drive (approx 4 miles) and the harbour town of Porthmadog is within approx 18 miles.

Directions
From Caernarfon, head south on the A4085 (Waunfawr Road), continue for approx 3 miles and on entering the village, turn left (by Snowdonia Fire Protection) and proceed along this straight country lane to a cross roads, continue over the cross roads up the hill and after passing over the cattle grid, Hafod Oleu is located after a few hundred yards on the right hand side.
