Full Details for 5 Bedroom Detached for sale in Bath, BA2 :
A deceptively spacious five bedroom house offering over 3000sq.ft of living accommodation over three floors. Located in Limpley Stoke the property benefits from approximately one acre of garden with another three and a half acres of adjoining grounds and stabling available by separate negotiation. This chalet bungalow, which retains the frontage of the 1920s house but was remodelled 27 years ago, comes with an acre of gardens and is located in the parish of Limpley Stoke at the southern end of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Three and a half acres acres of adjoining grounds with stabling are available by separate negotiation, in total presenting a rare opportunity to purchase a property with a substantial area of land within easy reach of Bath city centre.Realising its potential, Nigel and Rita purchased the property 29 years ago: It was an old empty British Railways building, explains Nigel, sitting in four and a half acres of land in the lovely Avon valley. My daughter had a pony, so it was perfect for that, and, as a developer, I saw it as a challenging project. We rebuilt the house, turning it into the chalet bungalow you see today, keeping the front elevation as it was. Weve made improvements since then, of course, recently rebuilding the large conservatory at the side, and turning the cellar into a games room with an adjoining shower and WC. Weve updated the en-suites and the ground floor bathroom. The house is very deceptive: it looks smaller on the outside but opens out enormously inside. Weve improved the driveways and parking areas, and while theres also planning permission for a garage; permanent footings are already in place. The conservatory is great for entertaining; we can have parties here without the worry of disturbing anyone, adds Rita, and the garden provides plenty of space with its patios and its large lawns to the front and the back - theres ample room for a marquee too. Were so conveniently situated here, Rita continues, as we can easily get to the shops at Combe Down, where theres a Sainsbury's, while Bath city centre is only a little further. Theres a village shop just down the road at Freshford, which also has an excellent primary school; and we overlook some of the playing fields of Monkton Combe School, a highly regarded private school. The railway station at Freshford is on the Bath Spa to Portsmouth branch line, and from Bath Spa there are trains to London; we see steam trains come by as well. Were also on the bus route and we can get up to the M4 easily too. Bath University is also only 2 miles away. The rivers close by, if youre keen on fishing, says Nigel, and the canals; were close to the Dundas Aqueduct, which carries the canal over the Avon. Theres a canal visitor centre at Monkton Combe, which has a restaurant and cafe and offers boat and cycle hire, and The Hop Pole Inn is just down the road.It will be a wrench to leave here after so long, agree Nigel and Rita. We will miss the peace and quiet, and the freedom of having so much space.
