Full Details for 5 Bedroom Detached for sale in Canterbury, CT3 :

This property is an idyllic 18th century Grade II listed detached property set back from the road in the main street in Ash village. This period family home is full of delightful features including beamed ceilings, a panelled hall and stairway, lovely fireplaces in the two good sized reception rooms, coupled to modern bathrooms and a large fitted kitchen. There are three bedrooms on the first floor and a door leading up to two attic bedrooms and a cloakroom.

A great feature of the property is the L shaped and secluded rear garden which is large enough to accommodate a swimming pool or cultivate a kitchen garden. The garden also includes some old stables and coach house that could be converted to an outside

Office for anyone wanting to work from home but be away from the main house. In addition, although it expired in November 2013, there was previously listed buildings consent to construct a conservatory on the back of the property, so there could be opportunities for a prospective purchaser to consider re applying for permission if they wanted extra accommodation.

Ash is a charming and very sociable village. It includes everything you would want for day to day living, such as two grocery stores and a pub. As there is both a prep school and an excellent local primary school, it is very attractive for young families and has a doctor’s

Surgery, a pharmacy and even a library. There are a wide variety of activities for all members of the family in the village such as line and Zumba dancing, scouts and the W.I as well as a tennis, rugby and cricket clubs.

What the Owner says:

“I moved here about 10 years ago as I wanted to be near good schools for my two sons. But I found some additional advantages I hadn’t fully appreciated. It was a great joy to be able to let my young children go to the shop or the library without me, as the area is so safe not only for the kids but also for me. We even have a bus stop outside the house so, when the boys went to the excellent Sir Roger Manwood's grammar school in nearby Sandwich, it was simple for them to get there on
public transport.

The house is very flexible because you can either use the top two rooms or close the door from the first floor and virtually forget about them until you have additional guests staying. Another great thing about the village is that it is ideal for accessing suitable help around the home. For example, although the property incorporates a large garden, I have a wonderful gardener who comes regularly to look after it.

There is so much going on in both the village itself and the surrounding area that you are spoilt for choice. The lovely medieval town of Sandwich provides not only very good schools but also wonderful restaurants and individual shops. We also have a number of wild animal and nature parks nearby as well as championship golf courses for enthusiasts, while the miles of sandy beaches in Thanet provide everything you need for a day at the seaside.”
