Vendor Comment
The property has a 16 panel/4kW Photovoltaic Solar Panel system installed on the South facing aspect of the roof. These are NOT readily visible from the roadside and were purchased and installed by ourselves in Dec 2012. They currently generate between £600 - 700 of tax free income per year; as well as reducing our monthly electricity bills substantially. Payment through the Feed in Tariff (FIT) scheme normally requires readings to be submitted to the FIT team of your energy provider every 3 months with payments being made within 6 weeks of submitting your reading. We have always sourced our own wood for the wood burner and therefore have zero costs for seasoned wood other than purchase and maintenance of a chainsaw and associated equipment - however when we first installed the log burning fire we purchased £300 of seasoned wood which lasted us for more than 12 months. We would normally use the log burner for daily heating within the home from about the end of October until the end of March (or early April). The combination of sourcing our own timber for the wood burner and having had solar panels installed in the property our monthly costs for gas and electricity are less than £70 per month.
