Full Details for 4 Bedroom Detached for sale in Crediton, EX17 :
The Shippen Barn is situated down a private lane found amongst 3 other similar properties plus the original farmhouse in a lovely rural setting looking out over its own land. The property is located just 2 miles from Cheriton Fitzpaine (see village description), 5.4 miles from Crediton and 11.5 miles from central Exeter, this offers a great rural retreat, without being too isolated from the outside world.
The stone built barn conversion is link-detached (only being attached to a neighbour’s carport/workshop) and has just undergone a major refurbishment inside and out and so now offers well-presented accommodation including a wonderfully fitted bespoke kitchen with integrated appliances: Self-cleaning oven, steam oven, combi oven/microwave and induction hob, plus full size fridge and freezer, coffee maker and wine chiller fridge! There’s also an attached utility room. The rest of the ground floor is made up of a great sized living room, a separate study and a cloakroom with WC.
Heading up the oak staircase the landing enjoys skylights and serves the four bedrooms, including a fantastic master bedroom with a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, lovely feature windows and an en-suite shower room. There’s also a family bathroom with twin Jacuzzi bath which looks very inviting! As well as the staircase the property enjoys oak flooring, doors and windows.
Outside the barn includes land equating to some 4.8 acres of largely gently sloping fields down to a small stream with small areas of woodland. There are two areas of garden to the front, both level, one is lawned and the other paved for outside dining and barbecues, plus further gardens to the rear. The two former stables offer potential for conversion into garaging, a superb workshop or annexe/holiday let accommodation (subject to permissions and work to the roof would be necessary) or to use as stabling for horses.

Cheriton Fitzpaine sits in a vast and hilly lowland region of Devon, 9 miles from the City of Exeter and 1.5 miles northeast of the Crediton/ Tiverton A3072 road – a route that could be argued to be one of the most stunning sunset drives in the county. The village appears timeless and has many listed cottages with the classic poured custard thatched roofs. Notably there’s also a gothic church, known for its hard edges and sharp peaks. There are two pubs, The Ring of Bells and The Half Moon Inn – both of which are unique, but equally Devonian in spirit. Cheriton Fitzpaine is a substantial size and has a multi-million pound primary school, a Doctor’s surgery and (as is essential) a post office/ shop. Local children are fortunate to be able to use (acquire grass stains in!) and shoot hoops in ‘Jack’s Acre’, a large playing field/ park maintained by the parish council. For foodies ‘Thornes Farm Shop’ is nearby, and is home to some exceptional quality, homegrown produce. What’s not to like?
