Full Details for 4 Bedroom Detached for sale in Cheltenham, GL53 :

This is an outstanding example of SPAN architecture from the renowned British design and architect Eric Lyons (1912-1980).

Established in the late 1950s in partnership, the accent was on modernist housing and heavily influenced by the earlier Bauhaus movement. Design features would commonly include mono pitch roofing, open plan living, and large windows to maximise light input. There was also an emphasis on homes in harmony with nature and many developments included large expanse of communal gardens to the front of the properties. Here this departs from this blueprint with its own exceptional and secluded rear garden.

Inside the property, from the magnificent entrance hall typically, with excellent light levels to an almost vaulted ceiling at the first floor, also leads to the open plan living space which ranges from 20' in length through to the 17' dining area beyond which the 16' kitchen is sympathetically refitted with bespoke kitchen units and complimented by granite worktops. There is also a useful utility room and the more common late 20th century addition of a 14' conservatory, as well as a cloakroom.

At first floor level the nicely portioned bedrooms continue to enjoy the light theme with rooms ranging from 14'10 through to 13'7 down to 11'6. All served by a stylishly appointed family bathroom and shower room. Also of note, on the landing area, drop glazing provides an excellent study area to overlook the superb gardens.

In summary a distinctive detached home that an architectural historian might pay a premium for, while at the same time providing a fantastic family sized home in a key residential area a short distance from the town centre and located in a secluded cul de sac.
