Full Details for 4 Bedroom Detached for sale in Canterbury, CT3 :
Becketts Wood is a quiet and tranquil development on the outskirts of Upstreet village. It consists of seven substantial and individually designed detached houses, each set within their own large and attractive gardens. This property is an elegant four bedroom family home with plenty of character and spacious accommodation. You can enjoy the delightful living area, where you can sit round the log burning stove on a chilly winter’s evening or entertain your family and friends to dinner in the adjacent dining room. For budding chefs the well fitted kitchen provides everything you need to produce gorgeous meals, including a double oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. On sunny days, you can spill out from the lounge through the French doors onto the terrace and relax on the patio with a cup of coffee while the children play in the garden. If you fancy the ‘good life’ there are also a number of raised fruit and vegetable beds as well as plenty of tucked away places where kids can play ‘hide and seek’.A stunning new bathroom and en suite shower room have been fitted very recently and, with all the bedrooms being large doubles with lots of storage space and views across the countryside, there is more than enough room for family and friends to stay. Even the galleried landing is large enough to provide a separate study area.Despite only being about 30 seconds off the main Canterbury to Thanet road, you hardly hear the traffic at all. In fact, you are more likely to listen to the birds from the nearby Stodmarsh National bird sanctuary – particularly when birds fly down from the north in the winter.
We really love the house and the area but, with our children and grandchildren living all over the country, we now need to be closer to them. The neighbours are very friendly and the village of Upstreet is very pleasant. It includes a convenience store for essentials, a garage and a pub, while nearby Grove Ferry and its pub/restaurant is only a few minutes walk away. Here you can sit by the Stour and watch the birds and the boats – or even take a trip up the river. There are also wonderful places to take the dog for a walk – as well as a picnic site and canoeing if you want to find something different to do. If you feel like a day at the seaside, we are not far from Minnis Bay with its wonderful sandy beaches.
Upstreet is very central for Canterbury, Sandwich and Thanet with a bus stop almost on the doorstep. It is only about four miles to Sturry with its chemist, post office, library, hairdresser, two supermarkets, various eateries and pubs as well as a doctor’s surgery, veterinary practice and both private and state schools.
There is also a mainline station with regular trains to London, although we often drive to Canterbury West and get the high speed to St Pancras, which can take less than a hour.
