Full Details for 4 Bedroom Detached for sale in Canterbury, CT3 :
If you want to live the harmony of rural and city life this adorable cottage could be your dream home. This property is a deceivingly spacious Grade II listed property, originally built in the 17th century and set in good-sized landscape gardens surrounded by stunning countryside. From the moment you set eyes on the house you can’t wait to walk through the door and see what’s inside. While there are plenty of original features including beams in many rooms, old wooden doors and a stunning inglenook fireplace you can cosy up to in the charming sitting room, the cottage has been sensitively refurbished for modern-day living. The well-fitted country-style kitchen provides all the modern equipment needed, including a brick-surround gas hob, integrated double-oven and microwave. Eating in the dining room provides beautiful views from this beamed room. The owners have converted the garage into a modern extension with a separate entrance. This trendy area is currently being used as an office but has previously been used as a teenager’s area and separate rentable accommodation. It includes a large downstairs living space with a staircase leading to a spacious 4th double-bedroom with high-specification en-suite shower room.In addition, the main house has three double-bedrooms which are full of character with their beams, vaulted ceilings, and lovely views across the surrounding countryside. Outside there is plenty on offer for those who enjoy the ‘good life’. This includes a chicken-run, fruit trees and plenty of interesting lawned areas. When you want to relax there is a lovely summer house with a decked sheltered area, where you could sit on a warm evening.
We fell in love with it the moment we wandered through the door and experienced the lovely mix of period and modern features and light and spacious feel of the property. The location was particularly important; we live near enough to Wingham to walk into the lovely village with its pubs, restaurants and local shops, and we are about half-a-mile away from the nearest bus stop (which takes you directly into Canterbury or the opposite way to Sandwich). There is an excellent farm shop and café on our doorstep where you can buy top-quality local produce. We live in a conservation area with a number of period properties with a strong sense of community. We would love to have stayed here forever but now, sadly, due to relocating, we will have to try and find a new this property.
The new owners should equally enjoy the extension, which we developed to be versatile additional space, again seeking to harmonise the old and new of our rural contemporary living. The house has been returned to its former glory with 21st-century features with the renovations complete. We and our two dogs enjoy walking along the public paths through adjacent fields and woodlands, these also include a number of bridle paths, for anyone who wants to ride. Indeed, if you want more space for a pony or other animals, the adjacent paddock is available for sale separately with an existing building that could be converted into stables, if required.
