Full Details for 4 Bedroom Detached for sale in Melksham, SN12 :
A superb detached period home located in the popular village of Shaw. Offering 4 bedrooms (master en-suite), 3 reception rooms, kitchen breakfast room, family bathroom, downstairs cloaks, triple garage, double car port and gardens.I used to pass this traditional stone built cottage on my daily commute to my workplace and always admired it tremendously and, one day, noticed, it was on the market, says Nicky. We both came to view and, despite it requiring quite a lot of renovation and presenting an obvious challenge for us, it had such a special warm and welcoming ambience. We knew immediately it would be our perfect family home and came to live here thirty years ago.The improvements and refurbishments to the cottage now provide a charming, comfortable, family home with spacious, well designed rooms throughout, full of luxury and comfort whilst, at the same time, retaining many of its unique characteristics. One of our favourite areas is the sitting room, with its beams and splendid fireplace, continues Nicky. On cold winter evenings it becomes the perfect room in which to nestle in front of the wood burner in full flow. This room also contains the original bread oven, a feature much admired by many of our guests. Like many other homes, our kitchen is the hub of the house. We ensured that its design was functional and user friendly for the whole family and so it has proved to be over the years. Another favourite room is the master bedroom which has the delight of a spacious balcony overlooking the garden and beyond, providing wondrous panoramic views of which we never tire and certainly gives the wow factor. An idyllic family home, one perfect for gatherings of friends and family, whether it be childrens birthday parties or christenings. Whatever the occasion, entertaining is always a happy event here in Rainbow Cottage. The secluded, peaceful and tranquil garden wraps around the side and rear of the cottage and its wysteria covered veranda provides shelter when required. The garden is mainly laid to lawn and melts perfectly into the pastures beyond. It has been the space where children and their friends have spent many happy times playing in safety. The village has an excellent range of amenities, including a highly rated primary school, with transport being provided to other education establishments including St Augustines/King Edwards and Stonar School. There is a thriving gastro pub in the village and an excellent golf course nearby. Bath is a mere twenty minutes away and Lacock National Trust Village is very close. The M4 and M5 motorway connections are easily accessible as are railway connections to London. This has been such a happy and convenient family home for us all and we will take away just cherished memories of our time here.
