Full Details for 4 Bedroom Detached for sale in Margate, CT9 :
This property is a delightfully sprawling and extended 1920s family seaside home. It overlooks the Bowling Green and across to the sandy beaches of Westbrook Bay. With its substantial and flexible accommodation and attractive sheltered garden areas, the property would suit a wide variety of requirements. These include housing a large family, working from home, accommodating an older relative or providing some independence for an older child whilst they save for a deposit to buy their own home. The property is very much a house of two parts. The original contains a wealth of period features including beamed walls and ceilings, brick fireplaces and a magnificent galleried and beamed reception hall that takes your breath away when you enter the house. There is also a modern wing that is light, airy and spacious with its large sitting room and a spiral staircase up to a sizeable room with magnificent sea views and an en suite shower room, which would make an ideal en-suite bedroom. From the reception hall there is an elegant sitting room and a formal dining room as well as the kitchen/breakfast room, from where there is a secondary staircase up to the first floor. This floor includes four double bedrooms off the galleried landing with wardrobes to one room and period features such as fireplaces in two rooms and picture rails and high skirting boards in all rooms.Outside there is a conservatory and a coach house that has been converted into a double garage. It has a room over the garage that could be transformed into a studio or office facilities for anyone wanting to work or pursue their hobbies undisturbed by activities in the main house.
“We bought this house about 15 years ago and it has been a wonderful family home. It is lovely to be so near the beach so friends and family can enjoy being able to walk to the seafront easily and stroll into Margate in the evening. The Old Town is a delight with a wide range of bistros, cafes, bars and restaurants where you can sit out on a summer’s evening. The house is also very convenient as you can easily walk to the station so could commute to London, Canterbury or Faversham and there are excellent private and state schools in the vicinity. It is a real party house because the reception hall can hold a large number of people and they can just spill out into the lounge and dining room. Apart from the fact that the cellar is an excellent place for storing the wine! The extension is ideal for older children and their friends to have somewhere of their own to spend time in or it could be ideal for parents or even a lodger.
Much of the house is really a blank canvas for a new owner but with all the period features and size of rooms it provides an excellent base. We have thoroughly enjoyed creating the extension and new conservatory as well as putting in modern bathrooms but feel it is now time to hand over to another family who will put their own stamp on the house.”
