Full Details for 4 Bedroom Cottage for sale in Chippenham, SN14 :
Period property dating back to the seventeenth century located at the historic heart of this picturesque village with easy access to two pubs and shops. Comprises three reception rooms, three first floor bedrooms, family bathroom, second floor bedroom, pretty walled garden, and two garages.Situated on the southern edge of the Cotswolds, from the Georgian city of Bath, is Castle Combe, a village which is often referred to as the prettiest village in England. Church Cottage is a picture perfect detached home with four double bedrooms, three reception rooms, and two garages, that occupies a prime position within the heart of this highly sought after village. We have lived in Church Cottage for over thirty years, says Liz, and I fell in love with it and all of its gorgeous features on the very first viewing. We chose to live in Castle Combe because it is such a beautiful village with so much history, numerous wonderful countryside walks and is also a commutable distance to London.During our time here we have extensively renovated the property, continues Liz. In doing so we uncovered an array of lovely period features. We exposed a lot of the original wooden floors, and in the second lounge we removed a false ceiling to expose a stunning vaulted roof. We have also installed a new central heating system, a lovely country-style kitchen, a new bathroom, laid oak floors in the lounge and sitting room, and tiled the hall and kitchen floors. Id describe the house being like a Tardis, says Liz. Its a lot bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. All the rooms are generously proportioned and are filled with natural light, which enhances the feeling of space. We also have working fireplaces in all three of the reception rooms, so its wonderfully warm and cosy in winter, and yet with its thick walls its lovely and cool in the summer. In the dining room theres an original inglenook in which we installed a wood burner, in the main lounge we have a Jetmaster open fire, and in the second sitting room we reinstated another open fire. The location is really beautiful, says Liz. We chose it because we wanted to live in a country village and community, but one with very good transport links for UK and international travel. Chippenham is only fifteen minutes away, and as well as having numerous shops, library and leisure centre, it also has a regular train service to Paddington. Bristol Airport is less than an hour away and M4 access only 15 minutes. We have excellent schools in the area; the school bus used to pick up my sons from just outside the front door. Living here we really do enjoy the best of all worlds.Favourite room: The house is a warm and welcoming home, says Liz, and its heart is in every room, that are all filled with laughter and many happy memories.Favourite aspect of the garden: The garden is walled, with borders of plants and it is paved, so it is incredibly easy to maintain, says Liz. Its the ideal place for alfresco dining or entertaining friends. The house flows beautifully from room to room and has been a wonderful home, says Liz, and with three spacious reception rooms it is great for entertaining, and family life. What we will miss most: We will miss our beautiful home, the wonderful local country walks and the friends we have in the village, says Liz, but we will take with us so many happy memories of our time in Church Cottage.
