What the owner says
When we viewed this property we instantly fell in love. The cottage had been owned by the same gentleman as a second home for over 50 years. At the time we werent necessarily looking to buy in the country but the listing got my attention and I just had to view. We have really enjoyed turning this beautiful cottage into a family home. When doing the renovation we had to think very carefully not to steal away the charm and character it presented by keeping key elements and features.
The cottage enjoys beautiful views, looking over Edgon Heath is the serene and tranquil and very secluded.
Another big pull for me was the school catchment. Thomas Hardy is one of the very few schools in the country that have outstanding grades in every section of the ofsted ratings. The school has been marvelous for my son.
What its got
The cottage presents everything you would expect from character cottage and more. You have two reception rooms with lots of features including beams and shaped windows and there is beautiful stone inglenook fireplace in the dining room and a chimney in the lounge. (The current owners chose to have underfloor heating over open fires but any prospective buyer could easily open up, if desired). Youll love the beautiful country style fitted wooden kitchen, with solid oak work tops and a breakfast bar peninsular.
Upstairs, there are three good sized bedrooms; the master with an en-suite and conservatory/office adjoining. There is a main family bathroom on this floor too.
Externally, the landscaped garden is laid out on three levels. The lower end is set out as a typical country garden with steps leading up to level lawned seating area. At the upper level of the garden is where you get the breath taking views of Egdon Heath with a further patio area. To the side of the property is a driveway leading to the parking area which provides off road parking for several cars.
