Full Details for 3 Bedroom Detached for sale in Arundel, BN18 :

THE PROPERTY A quintessential English cottage set well within its grounds, and enjoying breath taking views over surrounding countryside. Built in the 1930's and located in the heart of the pretty hamlet of South Stoke, within the South Downs National Park and on the fringes of the historic market town of Arundel. Of particular note is the planning permission in place to extend what is already a comfortable three bedroom cottage, creating additional living areas and garaging.

The approach is via a pretty rural lane leading to a gated driveway and entrance.

The cottage enjoys gardens on all sides and accommodation arranged over two levels. The ground floor comprises of an entrance hall with an under stairs storage cupboard and stairs rising to the first floor landing. The kitchen overlooks the front lawns and Church and has access to a utility room/bootstore with W.C. The sitting room enjoys open aspects on three sides with stunning views and a central inglenook with wood burning stove.

There are three good bedrooms, two of which retain original cast iron fireplaces and one with a wash hand basin, and a bathroom to the first floor all of which enjoy beautiful far reaching vistas.

The gardens consist of well kept lawns and mature herbaceous borders. There is a large decked area leading from the sitting room and utility room bordering the rear lawns. Within the gardens there are a number of well thought out storage areas, including a wood shelter and generous covered shelving for various garden related items. Of particular note is the large triple aspect Scandinavian style timber workshop with attached tool shed, the workshop benefitting from power, light and a telephone line, and therefore could also be used as a studio or home office.

THE LOCATION The historic rural hamlet of South Stoke is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1085-86, along with its stunning Church. To- day, the area enjoys AONB and SSSI status, and St. Leonards Church provides an active community locus. The noted county columnist Richard Williamson has recently written... 'Eventually we reached South Stoke, the loveliest hamlet in the world, perched upon a hill surrounded by its old horse chestnuts, poplars, scots pines and holm oak'.

This cluster of dwellings is on the fringes of the cathedral town of Arundel, and just a walk from the famous 'Black Rabbit' waterside pub.

The market town of Arundel itself is consistently considered as one of the finest locations in the country, and made famous internationally for its antique dealerships. Once a thriving port, the public houses and fisherman's cottages have made way for traditional tearooms, boutiques and an eclectic mix of independent restaurants. Now well known for its numerous festivals throughout the year, including the Art Trail, Food Festival and Arundel by Candlelight.
