My parents bought the house in 1952 and I can remember no other family home.
In the endless summers of childhood, I particularly recall the walk down to Totland Beach – crossing only one road – or up past Freshwater Court and on to Tennyson Down.
The home itself was built to last, with strong walls and never so much as a tile coming off of the roof. The views from the balcony and patio, up to the Downs and across the Island, are the same now as they were fifty years ago – idyllic.
