Local amenities include a useful village store, a post office, four public houses, several restaurants/cafes and an award winning ice cream outlet. The village is famous for its grave of Gelert (the legendary dog who saved the son of Prince Llewelyn) as well as it's Sygun copper mine. The beautiful Beddgelert forest (popular with walkers and mountain bikers) is within a short distance and the superb beaches of Criccieth and the Llyn Peninsula are only a short drive away. The Welsh Highland railway station is within a short walk and both the Ffestiniog and Snowdon mountain railways are again within easy driving distance. The property is also ideally located for easy access to the harbour town of Porthmadog (approx. 8 miles), the historic castle/harbour town of Caernarfon (approx. 13 miles) and the pretty town of Criccieth (approx. 11 miles) all three benefiting from their own golf courses.
Directions
From the north, (A55, Bangor and Caernarfon), head south from Caernarfon on the Waunfawr road (A4085) for approximately 11 miles. Turn right over the bridge in the centre of the village onto the A498 and continue through the village for approximately 0.2 of a mile where Ty Newydd is located on the right hand side next to the Royal Goat Hotel.
