William Harbutt, the inventor of Plasticine, commercially produced his product in an old steam flour mill in Bathampton from 1900 to 1983. Ralph Allen's second wife was Elizabeth Holder of the Manor House in Bathampton.
Devonshire Rd was constructed circa 1930 - 1932, with the first residents listed in village directories from 1932 onwards.
