Here we have a rare opportunity to acquire one of Whitstable's real property treasures. This delightful Edwardian chalet style bungalow, originally formed part of St. Heliers Maternity Hospital where many Whitstable natives were born. Converted in the 1970's, it has been further adapted by the current owners who have been in residence for 20 years and have converted the original loft space to provide a master bedroom. The deceptive nature of this home will mean that the only way to get a true appreciation of the size and quality of accommodation on offer is to step inside. Open the front door and there is a pleasing view all the way through to the rear garden via the impressive hallway and the bi-folding doors that have been fitted to the kitchen. Whilst retaining much of the true character, the property has been updated by the current owners and now boasts a modern designed fitted kitchen, modern bathroom facilities, Everest replacement double glazed windows of sash design reminiscent of the originals. The location could not be better, as it is within easy walking distance of Tankerton Slopes and the beaches, a good selection of local shop, cafes and restaurants, and for commuters the main line station is only moments away. St. Mary's Junior School is practically across the road, and you are only moments away from Whitstable's cosmopolitan town centre. The decent size garden has been shingled for ease of maintenance, and has a south-westerly aspect ensuring plenty of sun.
What the Owner says:
When we first viewed this property some 20 years ago there was a real "Wow" factor when we first opened the front door and looked down the fantastic hallway.
The property not only offered good size accommodation but it was a little bit different, which added to its appeal. We have enjoyed 20 happy years at the property, and have found the location to be fantastic The loft conversion has provided additional living space and created versatile accommodation which works well when friends come to stay. The sunny rear garden is an absolute sanctuary in the summer, where you will often find us relaxing and tending to various shrubs and bushes which create some wonderful colour from Spring through to Autumn.
