Full Details for 3 Bedroom Barn Conversion for sale in Folkestone, CT18 :
Bargrove Farm is a small enclave of very stylish properties incorporating a converted barn and stables, designed around an enormous and attractive lawn and paved communal courtyard. This was originally part of the farm and to access the development you pass via the impressive Grade II listed Bargrove Farmhouse and under a charming brick archway to reach the houses. All the properties are very attractive with a superb finish wherever you look but, even from the outside, This property looks particularly interesting as the first feature you see are the vast full-height windows. However, once you cross the threshold and walk into the main reception area, the ‘wow factor’ is even more apparent. This stunning space provides a vast double-height lounge/diner with the full-length windows providing plenty of natural light, a vaulted and beamed ceiling, access to the garden and open-tread stairs to the huge galleried landing/study area that overlooks the lounge/diner on one side and the garden on the other. This first-floor space is so large you can use it as an office for at least two or three people, providing wonderful views across the garden and beyond to the rolling hills of the North Downs. The ground floor also contains a delightful sitting room with a woodburning stove and a well-fitted kitchen including a range cooker and a breakfast bar as well as a selection of additional appliances. It is also adjacent to the utility room. Beyond the landing upstairs, there is a modern family shower room and three bedrooms including the master with its en suite bathroom.Outside, there is an easy-to-maintain garden, part of which can become an outdoor room in the summer time where you can enjoy barbecues on the terrace or sit and admire the distant views. It also includes a couple of useful storage sheds and some fascinating trees and shrubs. The property has two garages in what used to be part of the stable block and there is a communal block-paved driveway with additional off-road parking bays for visitors and residents.
The properties were originally converted in the late 1980s and we bought our place about 11 years ago. The previous owners had done quite a lot of upgrading to the bathrooms and kitchen. As soon as we first saw the house we fell in love with it and knew it would become our home. However, we feel it is time for a new chapter in our lives so we hope the next owners will enjoy everything about the place as much as we have.
We have great neighbours and we feel it is in a secure enough environment that we can ‘lock up and leave’. We spend time in France and it is wonderful that we can literally be in Calais an hour from leaving home as the Channel Tunnel is very close by. All the residents in the six properties own a share in the management company that looks after the communal areas so we all know exactly what is happening and can make decisions about anything that needs to be dealt with.
We love to sit outside and enjoy the local wildlife – we have bats, squirrels, woodpeckers and other birds as well as foxes, and even voles make a regular appearance. It is wonderful to feel we are in the country and yet we are only a short distance from Hythe with its array of individual shops and restaurants as well as Waitrose and Sainsbury’s and the unique miniature Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway. Enthusiastic golfers can enjoy their sport at the nearby Henry Cotton designed golf course at Sene Valley or pop along to the Etchinghill golf club.
