We were looking to move out of London but still wanted good access to the Capital. Alfriston offers a real break from the hustle and bustle of the city but there is still good access from the mainline train stations at nearby Berwick or Polegate. The cottage is a stone’s throw from both the best independent bookshop in the country and one of its most famous teashops. We’re so lucky to be in a secluded road which peters out to become a bridle path. Passing traffic is almost non-existent.

The coast is not too far away and Cuckmere Haven, which is a cyclists paradise. Take a stroll along the Cuckmere river or up and over the South Downs. We shall certainly miss this quiet and secluded spot.
