What our seller say's:
I first moved to Brockley in 2004. I loved the sound of Tressillian Road and found the reality of a treelined street impossible to resist. And having Hilly Fields park a short stroll up the road has been a huge boon, especially now with a small baby. The area has fantastic transport links as we are practically circled by train stations. Our nearest is St John's about 5 minutes walk away ( and just two stops and 10 minutes journey time from London Bridge) and Lewisham Station is about 15 minutes walk away. Or you can sample the delights of the East London Line and it's fast routes to Highbury and Islington via Hoxton in just a short walk to Brockley station in about the same time. You also have Ladywell station just over the other side of Hilly Fields and Crofton Park station which is just over the road from the fabulous Rivoli Ballroom a little further away at about 25 minutes walk. Or else you can catch I don't know how many buses to almost anywhere in London. Oh and there is also the DLR at Lewisham and Deptford Bridge. Greenwich and all its shops, cafes and the Picturehouse is also only about 25 minutes walk away.
The flat is split level so feels like a little house with the main bedroom, kitchen and lounge on the first level and the bathroom and second bedroom up on the top level. It's quiet and cosy and has a new bathroom which was installed by local legend Rosie Riley - I only hope wherever we move to that she will travel there to build me a new one. Our local pub is The Talbot (about 5 minutes walk away) which does great food and I've just discovered also hosts life drawing classes. There are lots of local shops either around the corner on Lewisham Way or by Brockley station and you have access to big supermarkets in New Cross and Lewisham.
We have several doctors surgeries nearby and should anyone need it I can wholeheartedly recommend the maternity services at Lewisham Hospital!
There is always something happening in Brockley, such as the annual Hilly Fields Summer Fayre, Brockley Open Studios in which local artists open their homes and studios over the course of a weekend or a whole host of other things which you can read about on Brockley Central (the online home for all things Brockley). And you also get a regular newsletter from the Brockley Society!
I moved here before all the fantastic recent developments such as Brockley Market which takes place 5 minutes away just at the end of the road every Saturday and also the wealth of cafes and restaurants that have blossomed just by Brockley Station. There is also the new cafe in Hilly Fields itself which does do a great coffee.
It will make it especially hard to move and I will be really sad to leave the area, but with a little baby your priorities change and we just need more space. Hopefully our new home will be as happy as this one has been.
