This mid terrace traditional Cottage occupies a charming rural setting to the south of the little village of Hempstead-by-Holt. It is located on the easternmost edge of the Glaven Valley Conservation Area which runs north-westwards past Holt and down to Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea. A public footpath leads past the rear of the property towards the centre of the village where there is the quaint parish church and village hall. Other nearby paths connect with Holt Country Park to the west and Baconsthorpe to the east.
Holt, with its excellent shopping facilities and schools, is only three miles from here with the coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty beyond. A scenic lane to the south connects with the B1149 at Edgefield where there is a fine pub en route for Norwich. The cottage itself is believed to be about two hundred years old and a full scale renovation has almost been completed. With a woodburning stove and winder staircase it retains considerable character and there is a useful garden plot close by in addition to the immediate garden area.
There is a path from Marlpit Lane on the east side of the terrace that leads to the stable-type front door beyond a flint walled compound.
